It’s so so nice to be back in the groove again with wedding photography, and one of the things I’ve really missed alongside the weddings themselves is just catching up with the couples in the build up, not least when we’ve got a pre-wedding shoot to photograph. I had a great time down in the New Forest with Bronte and Seb (after a few false starts thanks to some questionable weather). I won’t go into loads of detail here about the benefits of a PWS as I’ve covered it all before in previous blog posts I’m sure, but especially after such a long time since first having contact with a couple it really demonstrated when I met up at last with this fab couple how useful for everyone it can be to build up that face-to-face relationship before the big day.
Not that they really needed much of an opportunity to get comfortable in front of the lens; absolute naturals from the very first shutter click. That’s all fine and dandy of course but what I’m really looking for during these shoots is the connection between the couple as that’s what I’m setting out to capture and tell through the story of the wedding day. Quietly confident that these two’s wedding is going to tick the boxes on that front.
So, late August at Sopley Mill, bring it on. In the meantime here’s a little taster set from the shoot at lovely Acres Down in the New Forest – a particular favourite spot of mine – to whet the appetite…
