Audleys Wood wedding photographer: Set in a beautiful woodland site just to the south of Basingstoke, it’s very obvious why Audleys Wood Hotel has established itself as such a popular wedding venue. Large enough to accommodate all of your guests, and still small enough to feel intimate and cosy, it has the huge advantage of being able to combine wonderfully characterful ceremony and reception spaces in the main building with a huge marquee tucked away at the far end of the grounds, where you can whisk your guests off to for the evening’s celebrations.
And then there are of course the grounds, not least the wood that the hotel estate sits nestled in, which offer so much potential to an Audleys Wood wedding photographer. It’s one of those spaces which works so well at every time of year as every season has something special to offer.
Lazing outside on the lawns in the Summer is always going to be a good thing, but for my money it’s when the autumn colour kicks in on those trees when it’s really at its most beautiful.
The ceremony room here is something else too, and probably not what most people expect when they draw up at the front of the hotel. Otherwise used as the main dining room (which the team there will helpfully completely clear out for you) it’s a large, bright, vaulted-ceilinged, bay-windowed kind of space. And light is great news when it comes to your wedding photography!
On the various occasions in the past that I’ve had the good fortune to be an Audleys Wood wedding photographer I’ve always found something or somewhere new to photograph, every single time. There are stacks of wonderful spots to both the front and rear of the hotel, from the winding, tree-lined drive right through to the fields beyond the fence at the far end of the gardens. So many varied and interesting trees, flowers and borders, and interesting architectural features around the main hotel.
And that’s just outside. Inside there’s again plenty to play with; the impressive staircase which leads from your suite down to the main reception space, the wood-panelled bar with it’s big old fireplace, interesting little corners and alcoves scattered around… So even if the weather decides to throw in a few surprises through the day you should still find that you’ve plenty of choice for beautiful wedding photographs.
Oh, and everyone seems to love the fish and chip canapes!
