Autumn is a fantastic season for an Audleys Wood wedding. The many mature trees dotted around the grounds produce some spectacular colours as the leaves begin to turn, especially one tree in particular at the front of the hotel which I’ve always got an eye out for around that time of year. (You’ll spot it in the large group photo further below). Kirsti & Andy’s wedding was an absolute cracker; so any smiles and laughter, and a really sweet couple.
If you are a bride getting ready at Audleys Wood Hotel on the day then one of the nice little bonuses is that you get to sweep majestically down the large winding wooden staircase en route to the ceremony room, which is lots of fun as well as making for a great photo. And then it’s around the corner and into the ceremony room, which is I think one of my favourites at any of the hotels and wedding venues around here. While the rest of the inside of the hotel – the bar, the lounge… – feels very cosy and intimate with all its dark wood panelling and softly upholstered seats, the ceremony room is light and bright and airy, and attractively shaped with a high, vaulted ceiling. It’s definitely one of the features that brides and grooms having an Audleys Wood wedding tend to put high up on the list of things that attracted them to the venue.
Now that’s what I call a nice smiley couple walking down the aisle! Out of the ceremony room then and into the bar and lounge for drinks and nibbles, and then a few photos before we were to head up to the marquee to start the rest of the celebrations. The bar in particular is a lovely space, especially in front of the large fireplace, and has come to the rescue on more than one occasion for smaller group photos if the weather’s a little inclement, which is was on this occasion. Happily though, just as we did finish all the smaller group photos the rain decided to ease off for a bit, so we were still able to take the large group shot outside (under that insanely colourful tree) and some couple portraits too…
Kirsti & Andy’s wedding at Audleys Wood was one of my final few for that year, and I always like the change in feel as the nights draw in and everything starts to get cosier and more intimate. This was just the right sort of venue for a sense of that – great location, wonderful day and of course an absolutely beautiful couple. Many congratulations to you both, Kirsti & Andy, and wishing you many very happy years together!
