A beautiful, fresh February day at Sopley Mill for the massively fun wedding of Hannah & Daryll. I love the cosiness of the Mill in Winter, with the log fire burning downstairs and all that exposed red brick and wood panelling. While we were still able to get outside for a few key moments – bubble confetti, group photos and of course some couple portraits by that wonderful bridge and down by the water meadows – this was very much a day for taking maximum advantage of the interior beauty of the building. (Funnily enough, come the Summer when everyone is outside on the lawn playing garden games and working on their tans, I often feel that they completely miss out on seeing this side of the venue. So there you go, something to offer at any time of year).
Anyway, what an absolutely beautiful bride Hannah was, and just look at that dress! The cuteness factor was turned up to 11 with Daryll’s daughter stepping into the role of flower girl for the day too, just in case everything wasn’t perfect enough already.
Okay, so it certainly wasn’t the warmest of days (although it wasn’t exactly freezing, just the type of day where you’d rather spend most of it inside looking out at it) but all credit to the bride and groom for electing to take some time out to head over the old iron bridge upstream of the Mill and into the water meadows for some couple photos while we still had the light. The building and grounds are heavenly for photos already, and I personally find that this tucked away gem really is the icing on the cake. And also, very importantly in my mind, stepping away from the crowds even for a few moments and just a couple of photos allows the newly married couple a few moments just to catch their breath and let it all sink in a little. A wedding day can be such a whirlwind that those opportunities to just pause and reflect shouldn’t be passed up.
And it means you get to make your big entrance to a room full of happy, cheering wedding guests when you get back to kick off the celebrations!
A fab, fab day with an absolutely wonderful couple. Massive congratulations Hannah & Daryll – what a pleasure to have the opportunity to capture it all for you. I hope looking back through this little selection bring back so many happy memories from your day.
