Hospital of St Cross wedding photographer. The beautiful Hospital of St Cross in Winchester is a stunning place for a wedding. It absolutely oozes history, and is located in an absolutely gorgeous setting, down amongst the water meadows on the outskirts of the city. (From a distance I actually think it looks a lot like its bigger cousin the Cathedral). The wonderful buildings, the fields and streams beyond the old walls, the backdrop of the almshouses and the square it sits on, all add up to an absolute stack of photo opportunities for the St Cross Hospital wedding photographer.

It’s perhaps one of those hidden gem venues if you’re considering a traditional church wedding. As it’s so tucked away and as the church is so closely associated with the famous almshouses of the hospital it might not automatically occur to many couples that they could get married there, but it is in fact open as an option to couples who live beyond St Cross.

Inside, the size and shape of the church mean that it’s possible to be very discreet as a wedding photographer – just the way I like it. Lots of pillars and columns and little corners to tuck myself away, which means that all eyes will stay firmly fixed on the bride and groom. And then outside, so many great spots for couple photos, group photos, or just lots of candid wedding photography as everyone mills around soaking in the beauty and hugging the happy couple. It’s also definitely worth taking a couple of moments to step outside the walls of the close too and into the fields beyond. (I know these water meadows well – I’ve been on a lot of dog walks round these parts!)
